Three years after submitting our application, Michigan Women's Media, Inc. has been granted 501(c)3 status.
Contributions are now tax deductible as allowed by law, and the organization is exempt from paying taxes. In addition. Michigan Women's Media, Inc. is now eligible to apply for grants and other funds available only to 501(c)3 organizations.
We pursued tax exempt status not only as a benefit to our donors, but also to bolster confidence in our internship program. What happened as a result of the arduous process is a sharper vision and even stronger mission.
